25 Mar 21 – 25 Apr 21 – A retrospective
It’s been a month to when we decided to exercise a few additional curbs on top of then published PMC guidelines. We started our community movement restrictions earlier than the city and the state announcements and that seems to have helped us. We took some whiplash from the residents for this, but in the hindsight, this was needed.
This update comes to you in the grieving backdrop of loss of a life within our society, but we hope you can see that the numbers prove that we need to continue our efforts in breaking the chain of Covid19 infection. We touched 39 positive cases in last one month and as of today we have 9 active patients home quarantined.
The news and social media do a fairly good job on imparting us the true serious situation our city and our country is in. We assume you educate yourself enough on the evolving mutating virus, its changing symptoms and severity of infection. And this only needs to serve us a reminder that we cannot let go off 3 simple things: wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance. This will most likely become the way of life for sometime in the future until severity of Covid19 diminishes and we achieve herd immunity via vaccinations. We know that the restrictions will stay for another month easily till our medical infrastructure stands back on its feet supporting its citizens and save lives.
We wish you well for the next month to come; hoping you all would deligently take precautions and obey all government ensued guidelines.
Further, in case some data insights interest you, please read on. Else you may skip what follows.
There is a possibility to study these numbers and the cases to arrive at some approximate observation-based inferences with respect to the causes of Covid19 spread as follows:
1. Recent travel history or socializing with visitors with travel history
2. Stepping out for daily work at an office, an enclosed air-conditioned space, or frequent visits to public places like super-stores, malls, cinemas etc.
3. Increased contagion during the second wave, wherein even if single member of the family brought in the virus, it latched onto all members of a joint family in no time
4. Total tested staff + maids: 91
a. Maids positive: 6
b. Guard positive: 2
c. HK staff positive: 1
d. FMS staff positive: 1
e. Symptomatic: 3 / 10
f. Severity of symptoms: Moderate to nil, recovered with basic medication and 15 days quarantine period
g. Flats whose residents tested positive, did not infect their maids
h. Flats whose maids tested positive, did not infect the flat residents
5. Total residents tested positive: 39
a. Primary symptoms: Cold, cough, fever, headache
b. Hospitalized for hypoxia or shortness of breath: 8
c. Majority recovered with basic/Covid medication under guidance of online consulting physician
Conclusion: (at least until severity of this second wave dies down)
1. Restriction of movement definitely helps
2. Restriction in meeting people, house guests and not indulging in group activities definitely helps – do not consider your family and friends as a safe circle anymore
3. Wear a mask, wash your hands, use sanitizers, maintain social distancing; use your discretion when inviting any labor into your house; better avoid or better tested
4. Follow basic immunity boosting tips: exercise, eat healthy, stay hydrated
5. Avoid all crowded places and prefer online deliveries only; exercise your privilege and stay at home
Cooperation from residents is the key, stay safe and keep others safe should be our motto
