Some of you must have met Mr Chandermohan. He holds 30 years experience in this field and he is honest with his services and quality of material used.
I had already told him that the situation of cockroaches is severe in our society but he says the situation is acute and much worse. Says the flat owners can pick any vendor of their choice but there is no alternative to chemical treatment and fumigation and repeating it quarterly until the problem is under control. There are very few flats where the issue is relatively under control but majority flats are serious and need immediate action : is his assessment
There are some action items at society level that we need to do and I will get started on them. We sprayed chemical in all drain pipes today and there is more that we need to do. Action will follow soon.

8 August Saturday : is the date for pest control
They would start at 11 am . And each flat would take about 10 mins max
The vendor will get sufficient man power to complete all in one day
If there is a spillover it will be attended on Sunday starting 11am
👉 Remember to empty your kitchen as much as possible to maximize effect of the pest control and keep the basins, bathrooms and dry balcony drains clear and accessible
👉 Note that those who are opting for chemical treatment will have to vacate the house for 2 to 3 hours. Those who have opted for herbal treatment note that all drains would still be spot sprayed with chemical and for this you need not vacate the house.
The vendor is bringing fumigation kits as well in case anyone is interested, please inform them when they visit your flat. This will be charged extra depending on how many you use.
Further after speaking to three different pest control vendors here is the common gist:
1: Almost all pest control vendors prefer herbal treatment (neem oil based)
- and gel for electrical appliances which cannot be sprayed on
- this is 100% safe for everyone, babies, toddlers, adults, senior citizens
- this leaves no stains on walls or surfaces and be wiped off easily, does not smell
- however this treatment is not as effective if the severity of cockroach infestation is high
- all three vendors recommended herbal treatment once a month for three consecutive months to turn effective, thereafter quarterly
- one time price for kitchen + bathrooms + dry balcony + all drains = Rs 500 per flat
2: The second option is to use a pesticide chemical which is much more effective
- however this needs all residents in the house to vacate the house for minimum 2 hours
- keep open all windows and keep fans ON after spraying
"- this leaves no stains, but a strong foul smell
- so after spraying, the residue which has not evaporated, needs to be wiped off"
- this is reliable and effective but if severity of cockroach infestation stays, then should be repeated AFTER 3 months
- one time price for kitchen + bathrooms + dry balcony + all drains = Rs 500 per flat
3: Almost all vendors recommended that society get the chemical sprayed in water drains and pipes, though however most of them are concealed - this bit society MC will look into for a regular quarterly cycle
4: Note that for both the treatments above to be effective, it is recommended that you empty the kitchen
- keep cabinets intact and just remove utensils
- sinks and drains should be clear
- corners of kitchen platform be clear
- if possible remove any accumulated dust/dirt before spraying of chemicals
